Title: Up to the hunting for safety female banana sockets.
Post by: Kiriakos GR on December 01, 2012, 09:15:12 PM
For some time now I have a project at the back of my head.  ;)

About to build an accesory that it can be used as :
a)  AC line splitter for clamp meters.
b)  AC volts adapter that safety banana can be attached to it (test leads for data logging).
c)  AC male and female plug on it.
d)  Portable and compact.

I am working on the final design, but I needed some safety bananas first, by having all the parts I could have a better view about the final assemply.

Lukily I found the bananas at the right price and ordered them all ready from eBay.   ;)

Thank you. I found in local market some similar but with plastic fastener ring that annoy me, so i never bought it.

Well those have a aluminum fastener ring, they do not stick on my magnet.
But they are not shaped as polygon and I will be gentle with my pliers.

Anyway seperate for shape, aluminium is better than plastic. Perhaps you can replace it with a polygon screw with same diameter for better fastener handling

The mystery with the original fasteners is that they need some sort of a special screwdriver which I do not have.
The exchange with polygon ones sound as better idea, and with them I can even use star washers too.  ;)
