Title: Fluke 8808A benchtop DMM - severe damage due ACV overvoltage Max input 700V
Post by: Kiriakos GR on November 01, 2021, 09:10:43 AM
I was not aware that Fluke 8808A this is limited to 700 ACV as max input.

Over YouTube, I did read a customer complain, that a Fluke 8808A this were severely damaged at one attempt of measuring AC component of a transformer this be within a tube amplifier.
Fluke 8808A damage status: Ohms and AC function fail.

My only advice at the application of tube amplifier repairs, will be ... Never work blindly.
Always find first the schematic, and follow any directions about test points them offered by the product designer.

My best recommendation to avoid DMM damage, this is getting an FLUKE 80K-6 High Voltage 6KV HV Probe or FLUKE 80K-40 High Voltage 40KV probe.
