We are looking forwards for the actual review.  ;)

“Power supplies based on ATX 3.0 and ATX12VO 2.0 will ensure anyone looking to get the most stable and cost optimized performance possible with highest power efficiency out of their desktop PCs will be able to do so – both now and in the future.”

–Stephen Eastman, Intel platform power specialist
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beyond system performance, the ATX12VO spec is going to be integral to helping the PC industry meet multiple governmental energy regulations.
Recently announced regulations for complete systems – such as the California Energy Commission’s Tier 2 appliance efficiency requirements – make it so that OEMs and system integrators (SI) must use extreme low system idle power levels to reduce desktop idle power consumption.
The ATX12VO specification is one of Intel’s efforts to improve efficiency across OEM/SI systems and products for our industry partners.

ATX Version 3.0 Multi-Rail Power Supply Design Guide in February 2022.
This was a significant update to industry power supply specifications and led to considerable change in the IT market.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just reading a standard with 89 pages, its fun but I am limited in speed.  :)

According to latest standard, they are specific directions of how Stand-by power this it should be measured, and special mini DC load required for the 5VSB rail ( I need to make one).
The long story in short, my review and electrical measurements will be performed according to latest INTEL standard, and any one who did testing according the older standard, any comparison points these are now invalid.

I might need another one month, but my product review this will be worth reading for the years to come (2023 production).  ;)

ITTSB Blog Introduction

Expectations from modern made computer PSU as offered advantages:
Reliable power delivery
Low noise electrical DC output
Electronic protection circuits
Improved power efficiency
Long life

Non-essential parameter for evaluation this is 5VSB rail (PSU half activated), and it’s all about low and high in consumption of USB devices and specifically about mobile phone charging.

About Seasonic TX-750, the company mentions TX Series as their upper class of offered PSU.
Indeed, Seasonic this using electronic components these selected from most well-known sources.

Now I will start the myth busting process, one computer PSU this is two power supply units within one box.
5VSB this is an independent power supply unit, this is the only one obeying at power efficiency specifications for low-wattage and or lowest power consumption.

When a PSU this fully activates, it entire power efficiency this changes, at power-On action, powerful semiconductors these taking over, and they are now responsible for the delivery of the energy (at all rails), and these are also responsible for the total of PSU power efficiency score (Silver, Gold, Titanium).

Power supply manufacturing industry / semiconductors development industry
There is no power supply design possible without available electronic components to use.
It’s one product designer he has several options of semiconductors to use, low cost, high cost, fresh design, old design, and he is responsible about the selection of entire number of electronic components too.

Seasonic this is not any charity institution.
It’s a company which it did build it reputation by the delivery of highly reliable products when the customer (consumer or an industry) accepts to pay the relative asked cost.

PSU evaluation at ITTSB Blog, electrical test and measurement advance lab.

I am Kiriakos Triantafillou from Greece, born at 1969, certified as industrial electrician since 7-1988.
Title of Industrial maintenance electrician this is two specialty pack in one, 60% electronics plus 40% electrical work.
Outside of factory walls I am freelancer at electronics repair and since the year 2007 I did also began getting involved with Switch mode power supply repairs.

At the year 2010, I did began thinking of me to become founder of electrical test and measurement equipment reviews Blog, this targeting to inform other working professionals (people with developed skills) about best choices out there of related products.

At May 2012 I did succeed to activate ITTSB Blog project, and eleven years later, history did recorded my activities and international occasional marketing level collaborations with significant names of our times, as is Agilent-Keysight, FLUKE Corporation, HIOKI  E.E  Corporation Japan, GW Instek Taiwan, BRYMEN & DER EE Taiwan, Megger UK,  Times Electronic UK, Vishay Foil resistors and of many more.

Today my plan this is of me to talk to the world about SEASONIC (Taiwan) work, solely about the TX PSU series.
Due the fact that TX700 fanless this uses identical technology with the TX750, I did focus at testing TX750 alone, in a way that it has not been reviewed before.

PSU Testing methodology at 2023
I did focus at the verification of Seasonic’s latest development or claim about +/_ 0,5 % 12V Rail MTLR (DC voltage stability when input AC voltage this fluctuates), along 12V rail voltage stability with load testing.

With an AC stabilized Power source at 220V, I did testing by monitoring all three voltage rails at two conditions of loading, at 10% and 50%.
My resistive load this uses resistors as load for 3,3V and 5,0V rails, along halogen car lamps these to stress the 12V rail.
The activation of halogen car lamps, this creates over-current spikes these be enough as torture test regarding the inspection of DC voltage stability.
Detailed information’s you may find at the chart below.

My second test this was about the verification of +/_ 0,5 % 12V Rail MTLR (DC voltage stability when input AC voltage this fluctuates).
The guideline of how to perform this test this found in Taiwan, due a brand this manufacturing DC loads of very high power.

The tests process this requiring a high power Variable AC power source, along of a Variable DC load.
The DUT (device under test) this should be evaluated at entire AC input range according to product electrical label.
For the Prime TX750 the test performed at voltage input range of 90V up to 240V.
TX750 this tested at 55.5% of load due the potentials of both combined DC loads that I own, electronic programmable along the resistive one.

Two interesting pack of measurements came out of that testing.
I did my first evaluation, just with 80W of test load, and then repeated the test at 477W at 230V.
The interesting factor this is PSU power consumption increase as mains input voltage this decreases below the 120V mark.

Below are both pack of measurements, at 80W and 477W of max load.

Test results Evaluation and conclusion
In the beginning of my engagement with Seasonic marketing team about this product’s review, I thought to perform anything at my powers so to deliver an extremely complete electrical product evaluation.

And so, I did even invite several well-known brands of test equipment, so them to collaborate for a common presentation and of their latest products these relative to PSU evaluation and measurements.
For unknown reasons, I did realize that they were not interested (Japan, Asia, and USA).

Additionally I did realize that Seasonic marketing, this is not acting that well, when test results outcome this is sugar-free.

A third realization of my, this is that Seasonic has a favorite Group of PC product testers, them not qualifying to perform any PSU evaluation, even so I did were attacked from their master brain from Cyprus (he did feel as inferior and nervous when it came the time so him to compete against a real electrical measurements expert).

Gentlemen I am certified professional, and any one not respecting me as such, he does not worth any of my love either.

In conclusion I do deliver the measurements as they were recorded, and anyone alone he is welcome to do the math.

236V ---- 477W    ---   80W   (PSU consumption due mains)
200V   --- 476W     --- not tested
120V   --- 486W    --- 81.0W
110V   --- 534W    --- 89.7W
100V   --- 612W    --- 103.8W
90 V   --- 745.1 W   --- 124.5W

12V Rail evaluation 90~236V   80W load
Min: 12.27694
Max: 12.27963
Average: 12.27963
Standard deviation: (SD) 370.000uV

12V Rail evaluation 90~236V   477W load
Min: 12.32056
Max: 12.32261
Average: 12.32157
Standard deviation: (SD) 457.424uV

Sum of tests these were performed under Greek heatwave, indoor temperature 34.2C, even so TX750 this never run warmer than 40.2C

Wow.... so the Americans at the event of Mains under 100V mark, the PSU wastes 250W on top of actual Load, even with a highest in efficiency PSU.  :(
In other words they are forced buying oversized models, just them to be at the safe side.

The regular Gaming PC at 400W max of consumption, this has nothing to be afraid when using PRIME TX750 Titanium ( SSR-750TR) in the U.S.A.
I have mention this advice countless of times at computer PC forums, you must measure upfront Gaming PC power consumption prior making a NEW choice of PSU wattage.

The rich boys, they should pay for up to 1200W of total power PSU, otherwise they will burn their electrical panel fuses.  :P

Last question for now, why the voltage measurements according to JEITA standard they appear a bit higher?

JEITA this is Japanese standard, which I translated in English, and I even needed some help from a Japanese friend of my.
The Japanese industry agreed to make written PSU testing guidelines, so all electrician engineers to follow.
One of these tests, this is voltage measurement by excluding voltage drop caused by the cables.

I do not have control of who will read this product review, it might be youth?  It might be people with technical background but inexperienced?  And or could be engineers who have certifications along professional test equipment?

Either way I have a message for the ambitious them thinking to act as PSU products reviewers (testers).

The planet of electrical test and measurement, that is the source of test equipment of all sorts, this is defined and knows to experts as I am, and this is a market place too.

The sector for AC power measurement and or about power analysis’s, this is the most hostile speaking of equipment retail prices.
Any brand producing such equipment, they expect professional test lab as customers and they will provide equipment along training, along annual calibration services for their equipment.
The idea is the factory and producer of such test equipment to gain a permanent customer.

Another path to follow for power analysis, this is the use of very expensive Oscilloscope and of several High-End probes for voltage and current, and due the measurement of COS F (Phase shift / difference), we are coming close to own an partially accurate test system.

Both paths at 2023 will demand a financial cost of 30.000 Euro as minimum.

In the world of Oscilloscopes, all 8 bit scopes they are not noise-free enough, for power measurements at low AC current.
Basic accuracy of Oscilloscopes and of probes, this is another challenge, if you are aiming to compete with measurements presented at 80 PLUS certificates.

The Japanese industries were forced first to manufacture such special Low-noise current clamp probes, and single probe pricing this is today at several thousands of Euros.

The European industries still produce the medium in performance special Low-noise current clamp probes, and the best comes at pricing point this be close to 500 EUR, special design for power analysis.

-----------------------------------------------

At my attempt to use my oscilloscope as professional power analysis tool, I did discover the entire pack of challenges at current waveform review and Phase shift measurement when special AC/DC clamp probes are used.

Quality probes compatible for power analysis with BNC connector they do not grow over trees.
These are upper-class advanced engineering and when the source this is European technology, then this is even better.

I wish to thanks PICO Technology UK, for the sponsored sample of TA189 AC/DC oscilloscope current probe !!
TA189 under the hood, this is work of (UK based) subsidiary company of GM Germany (R&D and production year 2010).
In summary: TA189 this is developed due power analysis specialist.
It has also won a place at automotive diagnosis as current leakage probe due it superior noise rejection for power electronics applications.

PICO Technology UK this is 12 bit USB oscilloscopes developer.
And today I do feel extremely proud, for the privilege to be the first reviewer worldwide of this superior European probe.
I might enjoy it at full potential if its Gods will to get in my hands a true upper class of 12 bit Oscilloscope in the future.

---------------------------------------------

Final thoughts, the pricing sum of SeaSonic incoming test samples = 600EUR retail, the pricing of single probe for current measurements = 500 EUR.
It is essential for us professionals, to perform investment calculations even for the thought us to purchase electrical test and measurement instruments.

My verdict, if you do not have a customer paying you for the production of electrical test reports, then you do not organize such a sophisticated test lab.
There is no medium price point so to organize a sophisticated test lab.

But for us experts of electrical measurements, we are able to come closer to measuring perfection, by combining ingenuity and expertise, along manual math calculations, but the test results has value only for us alone.
When a fully automated measuring system this comes at high price, the next path this is using a few of your own brain cells if you do have any.

Dear Kiriakos,
Only few people following you from a close range as I do, we have awareness of how many adventures you did faced alone, so far.

You did pass thru smaller amount of happy moments and a larger of disappointments, because others did not respond as you may expect.
You did use at that project, best test equipment that very few others own.
You did make, ACV source and DC loads with your bare hands.
You did make special tools, these to aid power analysis due oscilloscope, and the oscilloscope this double crossed you.
You did study piles of technical documentation, so the test patterns to be by the book.

My advice, you have prove your own high potentials all these years, now unplug the damn thing from the testing harness and plug it at your own PC.  :)
Your earned technical experiences this is your GOLD to keep.
Stop to worry of other people thoughts, we Greeks we do have a code of honor that very few foreigners can understand and or appreciates.

Thanks people !!

Well I have not say yet my last word on this topic.  :)
I am now collecting data from my PC with an old 780W PSU of 2008, so to gain proofs and to measure actual benefits of  modern PSU efficiency.

My APC SUA1000XL this includes VA power meter along data logging.
And I did collect few screenshots for future reference / comparison.

And I have also collected comparison data these taken by a low-cost  wall-plug power meter.

For today I will add screenshots from the APC software and data logger.   ;)
