Title: IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE: Extech Recalls Digital Clamp Meters
Post by: Kiriakos GR on June 07, 2017, 10:26:14 PM
Dear Valued Extech Customer:
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, FLIR Commercial Systems, Inc. has announced a recall for certain models of Extech digital clamp meters. We have determined that you may have purchased one of these models. Please read this notice carefully and call Extech’s recall hotline or visit Extech’s recall webpage to confirm if your digital clamp meter is included in the recall.

This recall stems from consumer reports that the clamp meter’s input terminal screws are loosening.
The loosened screws can create an open circuit at the test lead input jack of the meter, causing the meters to give inaccurate voltage readings.
An incorrect reading can cause the user to falsely believe that the electrical power of the test subject is low or off, in turn, posing an electrocution hazard.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled clamp meters and complete our Recall Submission Form, call Extech toll-free at 855-239-8324 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or email meter.recall@extech.com
Consumers should not return the recalled clamp meters to the retailer where they were purchased as retailers are not prepared to take the units back.
The affected clamp meters units were sold during the period of January 2016 to April 2017, and were distributed under the Extech brand.

The following model numbers are affected by the recall: EX650, EX655, MA160, MA61, MA63. Serial numbers in the following format are included in the recall: R15XXXXXXX to R17XXXXXXX. Reference to the model number and serial number of your monitor will determine whether it is affected. The model number can be found on the front of the unit and the serial number is on the back. Serial numbers ending with “A” are not included in the recall.
