Title: New scam, copper-clad aluminium = CCA sold as Cable for sound and speakers
Post by: Kiriakos GR on July 29, 2023, 09:18:14 AM
I did purchase yesterday:
5m of RED/BLACK cable for speakers, 2 x 1,5mm² from a known store and source for professional electricians.
The cable is excellent bright shiny copper = the real thing.  ;)

But the store did not mention brand, and I did a small WEB research and came across of identical in description  product from China.
a) This is not 100% of cooper, Inner conductor material: CCA (copper-clad aluminium)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper-clad_aluminium_wire

b) How to say if you have been scammed?
The real thing will be extremely flexible.

1,5mm² = 32 approximately wires (conductors)

Last test as proof, get a sharp blade and scratch the surface ...   ;)
If gold in appearance color this is uniform?  Then the cable this is REAL copper.  (Non CCA).
