Title: Model No: DM220 Ultrasonic Distance Meter (Presentation)
Post by: Kiriakos GR on July 10, 2012, 09:19:36 PM
Many times one electrician is in need to measure several distances so to calculate the sum of the length of the cables that he will need (cable run).
And yes if the cable runs on the ground level everything is Hunky Dory, if not you have to start the guess work.

In this topic I will just present something economic that I got from eBay and the most important is that it works exceptionally well.

Ultrasonic Distance Meter  VS Laser ones ?
The answer here is fast and sort.
The Ultrasonic goes 15 meters away as max, but it is not get effected by the sunlight.
The surface that you will get the max range with one Ultrasonic Distance Meter it must be reflective.
As ideal is the surface of one perfect flat and painted wall.
In the worst scenario about uneven surfaces the Ultrasonic will measure at 8 meters as minimum distance.
The Ultrasonic meter does not make mistakes, if the meter is unable to calculate the distance for any reason, you will get one on screen notification, that this measurement is not possible.

Personal comments.
I have test this model under one significant amount of conditions.
Never failed to measure the distance in vertical or horizontal spots.
Also if you are in the center of one room that is 30 meters long, by measuring in both directions, you get the 30 meters as total range.
Personally for what I do, I will never need a laser one.

In the rest of the messages you will see pictures, and the full Users Manual of this ultrasonic meter.
I have buy my meter at August 12 2010 for 16$ USD  = 12.77 EUR
