Title: SAFETY WARNING: UNI-T UT71D Asian version comes with 220V Glass Fuses

According the images of our affiliate Blogger Electro Elvis Blog,  posted at February 9, 2012

Even the latest revision of UT71D  Asian version, even by been stamped as CE which is not an exclusive safety standard, but a generic one, it comes with Glass fuses at 220V.

With the use of one ingenuous Trick UNI-T  does not offer voltage descriptions ( CAT ratting) at the current plugs.
Alternatively it does has descriptions at the voltage input which probably stands as true just for the voltage input.

The caress  buyer will think or speculate that those CAT specifications are both for current and voltage inputs.
WRONG !!  Idea     Please check the picture No2

I will host just two images as proof, and I do invite you to follow the below link, so to see the complete set of the pictures.

Unfortunately for UNI-T the product other than the limitations on Safety....
1) It hides bugs in their functionality (Min/Max mA range).
2) The instrument does not look serviceable (fragile PCB design)
3) The display is covered by a cheap highly reflective clear crystal.
4) The case looks fragile and not capable to whist stand a simple one meter drop.

For the retail price of 200$  UNI-T should give with it and a second identical meter as spare, so to worth buying it, if your profile as user matches the one of the hobbyist.
