(Made in Greece) GR-60 Olympia Electronics: home safety exit light & portable torch.
Successful repair & tests.
The story of this GR-60 Olympia Electronics product has actually three parts.
a) I did recued this light from be recycled prematurely, actual damage it mains transformer was burned, second problem rear plastic housing from the torch was missing.
b) I did notify the company by a message on Twitter and asked them if I can get spare parts, they shown some denial about spare parts and suggested that I should send this item at their factory for service. Retail price of this item with tax this is roughly 20 ~ 25E and therefore shipping and what ever repair bill, the sum makes this solution as not interesting.
c) My own electrical measurements’ shown that Olympia Electronics did a poor decision regarding mains transformer wattage, and I did my own homework of how to upgrade this transformer with one at double the watt. As you can see in my pictures there is:
1) Initial product testing
2) First quick solution as transformer replacement
3) Arrival from YHDC factory in China of new transformer, shipped at 3.60EUR after negotiation.
4) Small plastic housing modifications’, as this new transformer is a bit larger in height.
5) Finally this product it is powered as it should, DC voltage at full load (Lights On) this is 6,7V and battery charging circuit shown small improvement too.
