What is Fluke 174 / 6,000 counts DMM ? :)
( Date First Available : April 29, 2016)
Europe this is not aware of the history of Fluke 174
And so here it is the complete story...
Display (LCD)
Update rate ......................................................... 4/sec
Volts, amps, ohms, ............................................. 6,000 counts
Frequency ........................................................... 10,000 counts
Capacitance ........................................................ 1,000 counts
• AC and DC Voltage measurements to 1000V
• AC and DC current with 0.01 mA resolution
• Continuity, resistance, diode test, capacitance and frequency measurements
• Min/max recording
• Cat III 1000 V, cat IV 600 V; IP54
At the year 2013, FLUKE developed the CNX 3000 Series of industrial wireless multimeter, one DMM this collaborating with several modules.
The concept was CNX 3000 DMM, this to receive measurements from three wireless probes at the same time.
Therefore it display was designed so to include four lines of digits.
At 2014 FLUKE Corporation decided to terminate CNX 3000 series due their zigbee technology of wireless modules, and to use Bluetooth radio instead.
This move were made so their modules to gain compatibility with smartphones.
Use of a smartphone as wireless display, this looked as more appealing selling point at FLUKE marketing team.
Eventually FLUKE Connect series and DMM, this replaced the CNX 3000 series at 2015.
It appears that due the retirement of CNX 3000 DMM, FLUKE Corporation this has plenty of them in stock.
In order for them to cut down their losses, they simply redesign DMM face-plate and Fluke 174 true RMS this was the outcome at 2016.
In hardware there is inside much modern electronics, than anything similar at 17x DMM series.
Add on PCB of zigbee technology of wireless modules, this was removed.
With out add-on PCB, the firmware now recognize only DMM basic functions.
And it is now visible only a single line of digits.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Entire stock of Fluke 174 (CNX 3000), this sold within USA, almost silently due a fire sale.
( fire sale is the sale of goods at extremely discounted prices.)
Approximately at 160 USD and down to 99 USD.
The high-end offer included better test leads.
The Low-end offer included basic test leads.

In summary:
FLUKE CNX 3000 DMM remaining stock, this were converted to Fluke 174 and sold as generic DMM due a domestic fire sale.
Actual DMM, this were designed to measure AC components at 45 Hz to 500 Hz ( VFD motors ).
Fluke 174 this is a bandwidth restricted DMM, but with respectable build quality.
Relative link .... Fluke CNX 3000 HVAC Wireless series got discontinued due their ZigBee radios
