I do not own this Fluke 884X-USB but I am after to assist any poor soul that lost this priceless CD-ROM ;D ;D
Yes we have here one common RS-232 to USB converter, this offered since 2006 at 300$ USD by FLUKE.
Country of origin TAIWAN.
They are very few idiots willing to pay that price, as it has be proven in the past 20 years.
This is of why Internet search, this is dry of actual driver maker information.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Accessory Type: Multimeter Adapter
Manufacturer Part Number: 884X-USB
Compatible with Manufacturer Model Number: 8845A; 8846A
Includes Cable; USB Driver Disk (CD-ROM)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All RS-232 to USB converter they are using a single IC for the conversion.
They are two major players at that market, and a bunch of ugly Chinese copycats.
The ugly Chinese copycats , they can copy the hardware but the chip inside has some software code as Hardware ID, and unrecognized chips by the genuine software driver, these will fail to operate.
In theory 884X-USB this using genuine communication chip, so all that you have to do is to test the driver package of both Major ODM, these making RS-232 to USB converter.
There is no other assistant tip, other than buying another RS-232 to USB converter, this not be sold cheaper than 20~30 $ USD.
884X-USB this is today 20 years old technology, the internal IC, it might not be supported at all, by modern operating systems Win10 & Win11.
The windows driver at this ancient CD-ROM, this might be the last known working with the IC in use up to Windows 7.
By shopping for a modern revision of RS-232 to USB converter, this is a more reasonable option, because you will earn more years ahead of actual Microsoft Windows software and hardware compatibility. :)
