Fiber glass pencil, this is No1 tool for removing any sort of corrosion and dirt from contact terminals.
Since 2012, there is a relative article at ITTSB. https://www.ittsb.eu/forum/index.php?topic=27.0 (https://www.ittsb.eu/forum/index.php?topic=27.0)
I think today that I should also introduce this tool, at the group of people who care about rechargeable battery and chargers.
Rechargeable battery, this is an item staying with you for many years.
Actual battery electrical contacts, these become a collector of visual and of hard to see pollution.
Visual pollution = slight corrosion over the metal.
Hard to see pollution = dust particles in a mix of human fat.
Any accumulated dirt over battery cell contacts, this will also transferred at battery charger metal contacts.
Well designed chargers, these do not have a perfectly flat metal contact at the positive side.
Actual metal this is formed in a way this including dents in the form of small triangles.
When this surface fill up with dirt, it requires in-depth cleaning due another mechanical tool, the Fiber glass pencil.
Metal contact for battery cell minus (negative) electrode, these are less prone to accumulate visual contamination.
Constant friction, due inserting a empty cell in to charger compartment, this also removes partially a bit of contamination, but never 100% effectively.
At our times, that many consumers using chargers with LCD screen and detection of battery capacity, it is more essential than ever, battery cell both electrodes, and battery charger contacts, these to be truly clean.
Otherwise ... battery capacity tests and measurements, they will never deliver repeatable results. :P
We cannot stop handling and touching our battery cells with naked hands, but these can become electrically clean, only after receiving a clean by the Fiber glass pencil.
Beware, the Fiber glass pencil, this is equal to glass, avoid getting in contact with the fibers and or even with fibers dust.
Glass fiber it can easily stump your finger tips.
It is recommended using the tool outdoor, under bright sunlight, keeping out of your room, any glass fiber debris.
