NiMH cells these including recycled materials they came so to stay.

At the past decade, Ansmann was after satisfying professional photographers them requiring Rapid NiMH chargers.

The oldest know this is DIGISPEED 4, with an active cooling bay due a small DC fan.
Rapid speed:
AA 1750mA
AAA 750mA

Normal speed is possible due selector switch at the front of the unit.
Switch position named as Ni-CD.
AA 750mA
AAA 300mA

More recent model, this is  Ansmann ENERGY 4 Speed with an active cooling bay due a small DC fan.

Rapid speed:
AA 2100mA
AAA 850mA

Normal speed is possible due selector switch at the front of the unit.
Switch position named as Normal charge.
AA 850mA
AAA 350mA

Unfortunately both of these chargers, they are battery killers so them to charge generic AA Cells.
But their side for charging only AAA at slow charge rate, this is compatible and safe to use with most NiMH of our times.

If you are using exclusively AAA NiMH cells, you can reuse these chargers and save money from buying generic low-end charger.
Active cooling bay due a small DC fan, this is a leverage this missing from cheap chargers.

For AA cells these chargers at Normal charge setting they are considered as 2.5 hours charger.
If you are an hobbyist photographer with semi pro gear,  Japanese camera and Japanese external flash light, this SLOW mode will aloud an more reasonable compromise.
You will have faster charging times, and modern made NiMH cells they will last longer in your hands.

Rapid speed chargers this is a dead concept at 2025.
Mostly because they are very few of monsters in capacity AA cells available today.
And only Eneloop Pro this might succeed surviving from Rapid charge, within their life cycle specification.
It has be proven that Ansmann 2800 Digital AA, they are an easy victim at rapid charge.

In conclusion, both chargers at Slow Mode they can serve again for AAA NiMH Fast charge but safe.
For AA Slow Mode this translates to a slightly faster than Normal Charge mode, this be less deadly for modern NiMH.

Best advice if you own these chargers, set the switch at Normal mode, and use super glue as a permanent fix against accidental movement.  ;)
