OWON XDG2035 35MHz, 2-CH, AWG at 14 bits this appeared in the market at 2020~2021.
I am truly impressed by this instrument dimensions, super large LCD, and equal to full-size oscilloscope dimensions.
Product design, this screams by it self, this is a tool for teaching and demonstration within a school class.
From the other hand, OWON this delivers accuracy specifications only for Frequency ±2ppm, 25°C ±5°C
About voltage output (accuracy), there is no information's. :P
Today I had and another blast, an Keysight authorized reseller, , he was advertising the most expressive line of scopes, due the argument of more accurate time divisions and voltage divisions, due the high quality frond end.
Long story in short, I got motivated to test my own oscilloscope, with my eleven years old digital AWG, so to inspect both. :)
Test signal: A down-stair (or falling staircase) waveform.
At 2026, I am unaware, of how many using Display graticule, so to measure time so to calculate frequency in Hz or Mega Hertz.
At our times, the modern DSO this does all the measurements = insertion of automation :)
The AI of modern oscilloscopes.
My test results they are very interesting, everything seems correct at three digits resolution.
I did run two tests, at 2V per division and 200mV per division.
The numbers were computed correctly, but when it comes to actual graticule, I got an equal feeling, as to was looking an analog voltmeter.
The relation of screen pixels VS the size of graticule, this translates that our own eyesight, this is the next limiting factor, so us to make an accurate judgement visually.
14 bits AWG VS 8 bits AWG
I do wonder, when OWON this hides voltage output accuracy, if I can spot the difference visually. :-\
By performing this experiment with my 8 bits AWG and my 8 bits Scope, I do not or I cannot see anything wrong.
I do now wonder, if this new XDG2035, this should be reviewed by a 30.000 Euro of scope, so what ever OWON this hide under the carpet, this to become visible.
Medium priced oscilloscopes, they are not famous for high digits resolution at volts (RMS or PPV).
OWON XDG2035 at €300 retail in Europe, this is inexpensive.
But from the other hand, the customers that own all ready an good quality 8 bit AWG, they can hardly get convinced buying this OWON offering.
