Title: DC Resistance Meter for wire harness inspection - ONLY
Post by: Kiriakos GR on May 07, 2026, 06:47:03 AM
This is a quick advice if you feel desperate getting an Resistance Meter, mostly from eBay.

Measurements of very low resistance, this is a significant challenge.
They are three types of relative T&M instruments out there.

1) DC Resistance Meter for wire harness inspection with test current 1A at milli Ohm range.

2) Resistance Meter for electronic components inspection.

3) Resistance Meter for small mass electronic components inspection.

This DC Resistance Meter for wire harness inspection, this is not a new concept.
Even since 70s, SIEMENS brand from Germany, it did feel the need to perform telephone wires inspection.
And or inspection of contact resistance over a telephone center junction box or a connector.
And or inspection of a single wire over a long length.
First shown 1A test current DC Resistance Meter, this shown with analog measuring instrument, and lots of batteries so this to be portable.
An similar modernized design, this has digital display,  somewhat better accuracy, but this is still incompatible for anything else, than testing only wires.

Testing of telephone wires resistance by 1A current this is a dying process, the pricing of used DC Resistance Meter, this has fall down.
No matter of how cheap they look today these instruments, they were born to inspect wires ONLY.

I think that a few at electric motors repairs, they also find as useful these low tech tools.  ;)
