Title: Siglent DMM SDM3065X & SDM4065A both a poor choice for resistance measurements
Post by: Kiriakos GR on May 29, 2026, 10:11:44 PM
Within 2020~2026, I was wonder of why Siglent this does not do anything, at expanding test leads accessories range for 4W resistance measurements.
They do not offer 4W Kelvin clips harness.
They do not offer 4W Kelvin tweezers.
They do not offer anything as specialty 4W test leads.

And the question was of why?
And I say it was ....   because I did an close examination of SDM3065X & SDM4065A specifications today.
And in my surprise, both series comes with lower resistance range of 200 Ohms.

200 Ohms resistance range this is useless for low resistance measurements.

99% of basic bench-top DMM, they come with 100 Ohms as lower resistance range.
While the 8846A, this named today as discontinued exception, this came with 10 Ohms as lower resistance range.

This is neither advertising or a rant, the answer this jumps out due plain math.
Siglent did nothing regarding innovation, so to offer usable DMM for low resistance measurements.

Why then, they did add 4W function on them?   :P

Since the year 2015 and later, DMM bench-top market this keeps sunk regarding quality and performance.
An large screen at the front of an instrument,  this is not a sales point, when actual hardware this is made of LOW End Technology.

Even this old FLUKE 8842A, this has 4W support and 20 Ohms lower range.

It makes you wonder, of why the Asians of 2026, they are incapable to develop, of what westerns did 40 years ago.  :P
For low resistance measurements at low budget, FLUKE 8842A this is still the way to go.
