It was a time that FLUKE Corporation USA, this was truly a leader at DMM development.
I am currently killing time, by reading Fluke catalog 1987.
And my eyes were caught by a text, this talking in favor of FLUKE 8842A.
This is first ever DMM, that FLUKE did use for a first time, these Hermetically sealed Thin-Film Resistor Networks.
Due this DMM development Big Bang:
The NEW 8842A this delivers greater' resolution, accuracy and stability over lime.
This significant technological advance has made possible to increase the instrument calibration cycle and warranty period to
two years.
By changing the design of the resistor network, temperature induced drift has been reduced by a factor of five.
A new process now makes it possible to reduce long-term aging effects by a factor of three.
Hermetically sealing the resistor networks makes them impervious to change induced by moisture or humidity.
It makes me wonder of why FLUKE did not pee their pants by equal level of enthusiasm at 2006, when 8846A a true top gun, this were released?

Over the years, I have repair a few 8842A, with power supply failure.
And it was one case, that some idiot, added a sort as fuse at 10A input, and they succeed to permanently damage the current shunt.
But indeed accuracy and stability this never was an issue at these DMM.
