Title: I lost a "shroud" for the tip of one lead ( DMM test leads )
Post by: Kiriakos GR on September 03, 2026, 08:24:21 AM
Modern revision of 2mm test leads with a shroud, this helps safety rating to be restored for high voltage measurement at 60~1000V

The unsolved problem, these shrouds they might easily get lost.
If a single one when lost?
Then automatically, your pair of test leads this is downgraded for use at 50V and bellow.

The ideal solution this is having a soft-case for DMM and test leads storage, all times.
From the other hand, if you can perform tweaks ?  You may use phishing line as external bond of test lead and shroud.
It will not look as a beautiful tweak, but it might help a few people.

Even in the year 2026, the sad fact, you cannot get such replacements shrouds anywhere in the world.
This fact leads in to another recommendation.
Always own and a spare pair of you favorite test leads  ;)

They come times, at which I think the Agilent / Keysight design as a good choice.

4mm Banana probes (tube), with permanent shroud (2mm tips)
4mm Banana probes (tube), with out shroud (2mm tips) (for electronics)

You have just to make a choice of what probe to connect over the test leads wires with 4mm banana plug connector.  :)
And yes, having soft-case for DMM this is must have, for smart professionals.
