Title: Uni-T UT197 IP67 industrial multimeter - impossible to be sold 2023~2026
Post by: Kiriakos GR on September 27, 2026, 06:39:52 PM
Uni-T at about 5/2023 they started production of UT197 and or PRO UT197, this might be it complete description over the casing.

First UT197 this appeared in Poland, due lechpol Electronics (local distributor) at 9/2023.
This Uni-T UT197 it changed a few revisions, with out the market to be aware, and neither Uni-Trend made any marketing noise for it.

At about February 2026, two years later,  Uni-Trend started bouncing the drums about their Industrial design of multimeter.

Long story in short, Uni-Trend copied product design of FLUKE 28II, added also an 600.000 counts volts mode, along of Bluetooth connectivity.

Uni-T UT197PV this is a second model, this found to be priced 250EUR at bang-good (With VAT and shipping), while actual price difference of UT-197 this is 100 Euro on top.

UT197PV = 1500V max  / 60000 counts & refresh rate 5 times per second
UT197 = 1000V max / 60000 counts / 600.000 counts & refresh rate 3 times per second

This multimeter appeared to be packed with unknown brand of alkaline cells, and also with unknown brand of HRC fuses.
Uni-Trend offering of mobile app, this is a very generic software, voltage scaling appears to be per volt at 60V range .

UT197 sum of electrical features and specifications, they do create an positive theoretical impression, the multimeter appears as a loaded pack this ready to please industrial electricians.

UT197 this is now getting ready to be presented in Europe, as the NEW BIG thing, official stock arrival expected at 10/2026
While retail price (with VAT) this appears approximately at 450 EURO range.

Uni-Trend  this avoids ITTSB Europe as product reviews site, even their Euro-German division (plain warehouse) they did not dare playing along.

In conclusion,
The entire story of UT197 industrial multimeter, this is so far like walking within heavy fog.
Pricing targets they are extreme.
Product features untested.
IP 67 claim = untested
5m drop proof claim = untested
Measuring speed = untested
inspection for product design bugs = untested

Uni-Trend, for the right price I will accept to organize a product review for your product.
Professional electricians in Europe, they have broken faith when it comes to Uni-Trend goods, we never see so far a huge success coming from your products portfolio.

In the past 30 years I did not spotted, an single Uni-Trend DMM this winning global admiration.

Kiriakos he is a true specialist, he has now a pile of calibration inspection gear.
He owned for years the FLUKE 28II,  he still has the BRYMEN 500.000 counts DMM for DCV, he knows best of how to test and compare any multimeter.

There is a possibility, UT197 this be designed for domestic market of China.
And now as an experiment, they pushing it worldwide?
Even so at that pricing tag, there is no chance this becoming a best seller even in China.

I did a deep dive in to product specification, and now its more than obvious, the mighty Uni-Trend when down to Taiwan for shopping.  ;D

Hycon Technology Corp.  Sales Division (Taiwan)

BRYMEN does their shopping also from Hycon Technology Corp.
Uni-T UT197, ACV bandwidth and accuracy specifications, they are identical to BM869, down to the last count.

Uni-T UT197 DMM, this it did not released alone.

UT-C14 alligator clips.
UT-L98 Test leads with rotating insulating cover for the tips.
An pair of rubber plugs as banana input cover (ma & Ampere current inputs).
Along of a pair of 4mm banana tip, screw type for 2mm test leads tip.

Nothing of all these parts, they got listed after a period of two years, at any Uni-Trend documentation.

In summary,  This fresh UT197 and it sum of offered accessories, they carrying too many of patented work from other parties.
Uni-Trend now appears having a larger shopping list, from the side of Taiwan.
For example, CAT IV 1000V certification for test leads, this needs to be proven, for products aiming to be exported at major markets.

And I will dare to speculate, that with out the assistance of BRYMEN Taiwan, Uni-Trend alone it would never get that far.
