Sixteen years ago,  I was involved for a small period of time, at helping MyPhoneExplorer project.

I am the one completed the Greek translation, and in my surprise even at the latest software version, my name this is still recorded at the credits field.   
Back then my phone of choice was Sony Ericsson V600i
Sony Ericsson did not have a windows software for managing the phone.

MyPhoneExplorer, this is European software, and the software developer he is a friend of my in Germany.

This Addon is needed to sync your Android based smartphone with Thunderbird with the Software "MyPhoneExplorer".

MyPhoneExplorer activates scripts of it own under first time installation.
How to: 
PC windows installation very easy.

USB connectivity:  Enable at the phone settings USB debug mode.
Its of importance at Android , developers options tab this becoming visible.

General tab >  About device >  tap seven times over > Baseband  version text
Developers options tab, this is now visible under >  About device.

Next step:  MyPhoneExplorer client  installation over the phone due Google Playstore or ...  MyPhoneExplorer Client 4.12

 
This tiny client, warrants correct identification of file paths,  no matter phone brand, and use of Android OS version.


In total we need three pieces of software:
MyPhoneExplorer suite for Windows
MyPhoneExplorer client for Android
MyPhoneExplorer Add-on for Thunderbird (email client).

About Outlook 2003 sync and fresher Retail versions, up to 2010.
MyPhoneExplorer for PC this has internal support.
The latest issue with any older retail version of Outlook at Windows 7, modern setup of email servers,  this block windows seven systems.
Encrypted connection SSL this fails.
Unencrypted connection to email server, this is not an option for POP3 in our times. 

Thunderbird as fresher software this can bypass technical issues, as it supports latest known Encrypted protocols, and works at POP3 connections.

After testing it for a month, I did discoverer that they are things, them requiring manual work as fist.

Due MyPhoneExplorer software deletion of old SMS messages, or messaging logs, at the phone this is not working as you would expect.
MyPhoneExplorer, software controls, these will clean everything old from MyPhoneExplorer software history.

software history: Any incoming data from the phone, they are shown as TEXT.
Especial at Messages section, they are several options for past recorded SMS and Logs.
You may also create an Archive of older SMS at your own PC.

SMS delete: This works when this SMS it is not in the Phone any more.
SMS  Archive : This is unrelated with Phone functions.  I do not keep track of past received SMS.
Still there is an option if you need it.


SEND SMS by using  MyPhoneExplorer and PC keyboard.
This is my favorite feature.
But if this SMS will not be send, due network problem or other ....  it will stuck as a log, at MyPhoneExplorer PC side and at the phone.
This is a significant issue,  you will need to reboot the Phone.
By doing that,  MyPhoneExplorer for Android, this will reset it self.
New Download Data from phone function (Down pointing Arrow), this will clear past created SMS send Fail event.

Synchronize Function.
This must be used with Caution.
The target must be manually selected.
File -->  Settings --> Sync

Option:  MyPhoneExplorer
This easy to understand,  any changes these will happen between with PC client and the phone. 


Option:  Thunderbird
You should check first the Advanced settings --> Sync mode.
So to select the priority at Sync,  should both sources be synced with out deletion of past written data?
The phone will overwrite past written data?
Thunderbird will upgrade the entire phone list at the phone.

Option:  Outlook 2010
You should check first the Advanced settings --> Sync mode.
And identical details apply as it does for Thunderbird email client.

As Samsung mobile phone owner, I started by having as Top Preference  Outlook 2010 ( Microsoft Small Business Office, Paid Retail software).
This is designed to Sync with Smart Switch Samsung software ( SmartSwitchPC_4.2.18091_6).

Now at 2026 I have more Sync targets as options.
Using MyPhoneExplorer for PC alone, you do get in control of your phone.
You can create local backup.
You can restore older backup at your phone.

But by using MyPhoneExplorer for PC, as a connector for Sync of email client or clients, this requiring a portion of caution.

About me, I prefer having many options available than s single.
