Ultra sharp test leads tip = Mobile phone repairs tool ONLY
« on: September 03, 2026, 07:58:02 AM »
They are now available all over the world, these test leads with Ultra sharp tip.

They are two electrical applications in which an ultra sharp tip, this can make the difference at voltage measurements.
a) Car repairs and 12V system troubleshooting, pinch directly over wire insulation ....

b) Mobile phone repairs, surface mount components, PCB continuity inspection ...

Test leads with made of steel sharp tip, this is for electricians.
Cheap test leads with sharp tip, this is for mobile phone repairs only.

In the real world, a sharp tip it can stay as sharp, for as long this is used with care.
Unfortunately the use of sharp tip, this is only for measuring voltage and continuity.
These test leads they are inappropriate for measuring resistance and AC/DC current.

Yes you may use them for components inspection, when ultimate measuring accuracy this does not matter.
But measuring resistor resistance over a PCB, this is another common mistake.

In conclusion
Never consider these cheap Ultra sharp test leads, as your primary pair of test leads.
You should always have a good quality, regular multimeter test leads pair, as primary ...
Anything else, this is an add-on accessory for special purposes, and not for everyday work.  ;)

Beware:
Never buy unbranded test leads, if you are an electrician.
Unbranded goods it might cause death, at voltage ranges of 60, 380, 1000V (AC/DC)
