Keithley you are damn lucky, DMM6500 6½ this came out when public products reviews activities, this has been stopped.
First dark side of this Tektronix/ Keithley series, all these software glitches that no one bothered to solve due firmware.
Today I did killed time, paying attention for a first time, at DMM6500 datasheet.
This thing has 1 Ohm and 10 Ohm ranges.
But the Chinese behind this product design, they selected blasting the DUT with
10mA of current.
FLUKE 8846A this uses
5mA.
There is only one reason to blast DUT resistor with 10mA of current.
This DMM product design has allot of digital noise, in order the measurement this be above noise floor, blasting DUT with 10mA this is the only way to do it.
The greatest paradox, DMM6500 this is released at 2019, this should be specialized to deal with SMD resistors of small sizes = of lowest Wattage.
The Magical 1 Ohms range, this works exclusively at 4W Mode.
The difference between 1 Ohms range and 10 Ohms range, this is only an software tweak, this booting digits resolution alone.
While both ranges they will cause heating at the DUT.
FLUKE Corporation told us, 8846A this is discontinued, close alternative Keithley DMM6500?
I do not see any superior alternative here, this is rather a poor measuring design, large screen packed with digital toys.
If some one asks my opinion? Its time Tektronix/ Keithley to discontinue these toys, and to start over from scratch.
