This bit of information is very valuable for new buyers who have in mind to get one of those small portable (low cost) DSO meters.
What is important to know is how to interpreter correctly their specifications so to not kill your small DSO.
As example I will use a common 50MHz portable DSO which comes with the specification 300Vpp voltage with a 10:1 probe.
This information translates that this meter and probe is capable to be connected at the max of 106 Volts AC Mains !!
The solution to the problem comes by using one 100:1 probe which does not come as standard !!
One 100:1 70MHz probe, costs about 30-40EUR, and just be warned to get one too, if you do plan to use this DSO in AC mains ( so to inspect power quality or even measure the volts).
