This is not a Coil, its a WEAPON  ;D  ;D  8)

After finishing of my coil basic assembly, I could not wait any longer, I wanted to test it and discover the truth.
Did I do mistakes-less  work?

It is spot on as calibration accessory!! 8)

It might not be a weapon  :) but its 100% prototype and a very well made DIY Fluke 5500A / COIL brother !!

I will agree on that too  8)

Excellent work, this made with reuse of a wooden box, reuse of coil wire, two banana plugs, and spay paint.
One completed project at the cost of 5~10 Euro, only magicians can do that.  ;D

This period of time May 2025, I did have a look at the Modernized FLUKE 55XXA/COIL 50

Back at 2022 when I started my DIY project, I was unaware of 55XXA/COIL 50 (Year 2021 design).
I did checked both datasheets, and there is not any electrical specifications difference.

At the Modernized 55XXA/COIL 50, FLUKE did a redesign of aesthetics mostly.
Visual changes:
a) There is a permanent cover over the Coil = a mechanical shield against accidental impact with foreign objects.
b) Banana sockets (inputs) these are now at the back = a cleaner look / better wires management.
c) This product now includes a hole this shaped as a handle = easy transportation.
d) This product it can be stored even at a vertical position safely, and this is a benefit for a CAL lab bench, as it helps at freeing up workbench space .

In conclusion, this new redesign includes a pack of thoughts at a positive direction.
New CAL lab owners, they might benefit from it allot.

But I am unaware if those having the older 5500A/COIL, they can justify the cost of replacing it, especially when this is still undamaged and functional.  :)

My thoughts, the adaptation of the newer design, this is going to be a long - long - long  process.
(August 1995) 5500A/COIL design, this will be among us for several decades.
