eBay China - Too many used FLUKE 287C & 289C for sale - But there is a trap

FLUKE 287 & 289 DMM, they never won much of preference for two good reasons.

FLUKE 287 this appear at the year 2007
FLUKE 289 this appear at the year 2008

Long story in sort version, international version of both, always were extremely overpriced, while at hardware level, these DMM were very slow, and difficult to use them as first choice at electronics repairs bench.

Both designed to be as first portable data-loggers and then a DMM.
 

FLUKE 287C & 289C, these are production distributed exclusively in China.
All products, Serial codes, these are recorded at FLUKE database.
These DMM sold in China, by the term that it is forbidden, to be exported worldwide.

Any new or used DMM, exported out of China, they are not covered by Lifetime warranty.

At April 2025, I did see on eBay, significant quantity of such models for sale as low as 200$ USD without test leads or carton packaging.

My recommendation, you better ignore the tempting pricing.
FLUKE 287 & 289 DMM, they are from the few DMM, which they are unable be repaired with out direct assistance from FLUKE Corporation.

At the south hemisphere there is a Blog post, that such a meter (FLUKE 287) sold at Vietnam, and this found be damaged at Ohms range.
And there is not any, easy fix.

I do not see any good reason, someone to buy cheaply such an old DMM series.

U1272A this is fresher, best for Low Ohms measurement, faster, and able to do data logging with out a PC.

Fluke 289 this has the worst reviews within the Greek market.
Fluke 287 this does not have Low Ohms range, and it cannot data log with out a PC.

If Fluke Corporation were smart, they should retire both of them.
