This is somewhat unusual way of research, for us with technical training. 
I did collect all ready similar clues, for European based in Germany brands.

According to numbers, Energizer this has significantly high, yearly revenue from all know as competitors.

This revenue measured in billions, it can be explained to us Europeans, due the fact that American marketplace this is more unified.

European marketplace, this is further divided.
We accept influences from medium size Germany owned companies.
We accept influences, from tiny sized  importer of OEM, Made in China battery cells.
We also accept influences, from the Japanese industries.

And also a portion of valuable Euro coins, these escaping at China mainland, due the several known backdoor.
AMAZON, eBay, Aliexpress.

Its well known that at communist China, everything is under government control.   
Also it is well known, that at communist China, there is no love in favor of international standards and compliance, and also there is no love in favor of  testing methods used by developed foreign nations. 

Japan this is a breath away from China,  Eneloop chemistry this won an positive impression worldwide.
Up to date I am unaware of a Chinese industry this has succeeding that much.   

Since the moment that Energizer this goes that well financially, I have also the wild hope,  that they will continue the delivery of stably performing battery cells, simply because they have the cash to spent at frequently technical inspection (quality control), of any goods these coming from their production lines in the USA.

Within Euro zone Village, at 2025 we are facing a new problem, quality control and products certification of domestically made products, both tasks they get under looked, and the amount of battery cells with defects, this is rapidly increasing.
Naturally, the most worrying fact, this is imported batteries from China, in which no one bother to test these products regarding defects percentage.

But what you should expect? From a trading company, this not hiring electrician engineers for in-house testing, and entire business model,  this is having few accountants as management team.

I hope their profitability this to continue be in the positive side.
But they also need hiring electrician engineers,  past made documentation as battery handbook, this is today a very aged content.
