In our times, year 2025,  we still have available battery chemistries of Carbon Zing and alkaline along of NiMH rechargeable.

Digital measuring devices, as is digital multimeter along LCR meter, these require a clean DC power.
And all three chemistries above they can deliver such a clean DC power, because they are not use active electronics as they do all 9V lithium battery packs.
Such 9V lithium battery packs (9V Block) they create and or radiate electronic interference, which is the worst enemy of every high precision electronic measuring device.

Expectations from Carbon Zing chemistry:  Low cost products, Low mAh delivery, life cycle 2~3 years
Expectations from alkaline chemistry:  Higher cost products, known mAh delivery, life cycle up to 10 years

Expectations from NIMH chemistry: Medium pricing, known mAh delivery, life cycle up to 2~3 years
Expectations from NIMH Precharged chemistry: Highest pricing,  known mAh delivery, life cycle up to 12 years

Here I am sharing my own experiences, I have proofs of life cycle of several 9V Block NIMH and of how they behave by powering several multimeter.
Multimeter consumption this is of the lowest for the type of 9V Block cells.
Any 9V battery can do the job, from the other hand we need to think which solution can shown as cost effective in a long term.

At electrical test and measurement,  9V high drain device this is the IR temperature gun, the one loaded with two laser pointer (aiming assistance) along backlight.

The correct selection of battery type, this has to serve as first priority, our own productivity.
From the other hand, we all have digital measuring tools, that we use less frequently.

And in conclusion, we should evaluate and decide about battery cell type to use, per its one electronic instrument.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since 2010 my largest fear this is battery fluids leakage,  and in order to fight it, I am using NIMH chemistry.
Since 2014 I have discover reliable brand of alkaline cells, for my AA and AAA needs.

At 2025, I made the discovery that in Asia, the production of NIMH Chemistry products, this is at a downfall.
Products availability this starts getting lower and lower from branded sources.

Its unknown of how this market will look like at 2026 ~ 2027.

I am now puzzled, if it worth it, so I to get some stock, of (high end) NIMH Precharged, before this totally vanish.
Currently in Europe they are available three regular choices of NIMH 9V Block, non of them has the slow discharge property.

I also checked the Chinese bazaars of Amazon and Aliexpress.
And I do not dare to waste hard earned cash for buying expired no-name products.
