I have just discover an dangerous gadget,  this named as USB LED Reading Light gadget 2.5W 500mA (5V).

This is a strip of several bright LED, and this is designed to receive power directly from a mobile phone charger. 
The damned anonymous made Chinese marketing, this also advertising this product as PC laptop compatible.

Long story in short, computer industry and USB 2.0 electrical specifications, they aloud as Max 500mA load over a USB port.
Branded PC USB computer peripherals, they are designed to respect USB system power management.

Even an high power USB device, this will have a soft power on protection system, an time delay circuit, this not aloud sudden delivery of DC current as fast this is plugged in.

High power LED lights they will eventually cause damage at the USB connector of a laptop.
Its in the nature of electricity, any sudden load this to create sparksat the connection point.

Us electrician we are aware due our education, but youth and female population, they are prone to fall within this trap.
